Description
There are many variants of the MacLeod Tartan - We offer the MacLeod of Lewis (MacLeod of Lewes), registered in 1842 also referred to as the Dress MacLeod, based on the MacLeod Snuffbox, registered in 1829, and commonly known as the "Loud MacLeod". We also offer a taffeta variation with a slightly different colouring for large bulk orders in a 12mm and 38mm width.
Please note that these are currently the only MacLeod Tartan Ribbons produced.
Sold by the U.S. yard with special pricing for larger quantities available, this ribbon is available in a variety of different widths. This is is a top quality, authentic Scottish tartan ribbon as certified by the Scottish Tartan Authority that we import from Scotland.
Contact us for bulk pricing.
*VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING
Fabrics, garments and ribbons are often bought purely on the suitability of colour and shade. To assist you in deciding which items to order from us we use a special software to ensure the shades shown on our site are as close as possible to the actual item.
HOWEVER:
We have no control over the way your monitor / tablet / phone displays these colours so please remember the shades shown are representations only.
manufacturers advise that shades can vary slightly between batches although, in our experience, this is rare
There is no standardised colour coding or naming system beyond traditional recognition of clan / tartan names - tartan ribbon from one manufacturer may look slightly different from another manufacturer due to differing dyes and manufacturing techniques and as well even with the establishing of The Scottish Register of Tartans, differences in opinion still remain between weavers and other tartan sources. To maintain this we tend to use the same mills for our tartans, but it is possible our ribbons and yarns may be in different lots so please bear this in mind and try to order a sufficient amount of yardage and/or number of skeins for your project to avoid disappointment. Please be aware this case is rare, as we keep a good supply on hand, but just keep it in mind it could happen on extremely rare occasions.
Our ribbons are manufactured and sold, as well as for sewing and garment use, to be specifically and safely used on cakes, cupcakes and sugarcraft items and are therefore legally classed as a Food Contact Item.
Because of this, Food safety is therefore top priority so we cannot accept the return of any OPENED rolls of ribbon under any circumstances.
You have the right to inspect the ribbon upon receipt for possible return by checking the shade(s) without opening the reel (this as well goes for cut yardage of ribbon) and contacting within 12 hours of delivery to make arrangements with us.
