The Gordon Tartan Ribbon here is as worn by the Gordon Highlanders, the Highland regiment raised in 1881 and amalgamated with the Queen's Own Highlanders, Seaforths and Camerons in 1994 to form the British army's only highland regiment: The Highlanders.

The dark green and blue undercheck is the Black Watch or Government tartan with a single gold overcheck.
And a friendly reminder !!... never refer to the Gordon tartan as having a "yellow" check... any old Gordon Highlanders within earshot wpuld be quite piqued as yellow suggests a lack of courage ....
"there's nae yellow in the Gordon!" and the overcheck is always referred to as gold!

Sold by the U.S. yard with special pricing for larger quantities available, this ribbon is available in a variety of widths. As with all our ribbon, it is is a top quality, authentic Scottish tartan ribbon as certified by the Scottish Tartans Authority that we import from Scotland.

There is no standardised colour coding or naming system beyond traditional recognition of clan / tartan names - tartan ribbon from one manufacturer may look slightly different from another manufacturer due to differing dyes and manufacturing techniques and as well even with the establishing of The Scottish Register of Tartans, differences in opinion still remain between weavers and other tartan sources. To maintain this we tend to use the same mills for our tartans, but it is possible our ribbons and yarns may be in different lots so please bear this in mind and try to order a sufficient amount of yardage and/or number of skeins for your project to avoid disappointment. Please be aware this case is rare, as we keep a good supply on hand, but just keep it in mind it could happen on extremely rare occasions.
Our ribbons are manufactured and sold, as well as for sewing and garment use, to be specifically and safely used on cakes, cupcakes and sugarcraft items and are therefore legally classed as a Food Contact Item.
Because of this, Food safety is therefore top priority so we cannot accept the return of any OPENED rolls of ribbon under any circumstances.
You have the right to inspect the ribbon upon receipt for possible return by checking the shade(s) without opening the reel (this as well goes for cut yardage of ribbon) and contacting within 12 hours of delivery to make arrangements with us.
